It's entirely on you.īut something else to consider are attack vectors - you might feel that if you're self hosting, then you can limit direct attacks against you - and you'd be right, but have you considered supply chain attacks? You'll need to do your own backups (Which you should be doing anyway) and have a plan for if something goes wrong. Something goes wrong? Tough, your data is gone. ![]() It's an open source project, it's not a company. Vaultwarden, on the other hand, has no such liability. If there was a breach of that data, Bitwarden the company would suffer huge losses as people take their business elsewhere. Many of those customers pay them to do so in some capacity. They have a vested interest in looking after their customer data. Now, there's absolutely nothing wrong with that project itself, it's open source just like bitwarden is and the guys behind it are absolutely fantastic, kudos to them for the time and effort they've put into the project but something you should consider is liability.īitwarden is a company at the end of the day. ![]() A lot of people here are recommending vaultwarden/bitwarden_rs for self hosting, but I have to stress this - be sure you know what you're getting yourself into. ![]()
